Samantha Burke 🇨🇦

Samantha grew up in Prince George, BC (Northern BC) but moved to Edmonton, AB to pursue a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry. Instead she fell in love with the lab and found her passion truly lied in environmental protection, in particular the effects of anthropogenic contaminants. She then began pursuing a Bachelor’s in Chemistry with an Earth Science minor. During her undergrad, her research was focused on the environmental fate of tire wear additives that have been found in aqueous environments. Samantha joined the NBD group to pursue her MSc in Chemistry and join the Elk River Valley project where the neighbouring communities have been impacted by coal mining and the contaminants that come with it. Samantha is also a devoted cat mom, avid crocheter, and die hard Taylor Swift and Oilers fan!
