2019 - BSc in Organic Chemistry
University of Rostock, Rostock, Germany
Paul Heine 🇩🇪
Paul completed his BSc degree in organic chemistry at University of Rostock before moving to Vancouver to pursue his PhD at UBC. In the NBD group, he applies his strong background in synthetic chemistry towards studying the atmospheric fate of volatile organic selenium. Paul's primary research methodology is the Vocus (PTR-TOF-MS) applied in laboratory chamber studies. However, Paul also works on gas-to-particle conversion using aerosol instruments and develops thermal desorption techniques to allow for detection of trace selenium volatiles focused on ambient measurements. Outside of the lab, Paul likes to indulge in the beautiful nature of British Columbia on foot, his bicycle, or skis.
