2025 - BSc Major in Chemistry
University of Pittsburgh, USA
Aaron Winchell 🇺🇸
Aaron grew up in Virginia and earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh, where he studied the impact and distribution of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in environmental systems. Aaron’s interest in atmospheric chemistry grew from researching human exposure to atmospheric PFAS through the development of a wearable air sampler. Currently, Aaron is pursuing a Ph.D. in Chemistry in the NBD group in collaboration with Anaïs Orsi in the Department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences. His research focuses on reconstructing the pre-industrialization atmospheric composition of VOCs using air trapped within glacial ice cores from the Arctic in Nunavut. In his free time, Aaron enjoys pursuing creative projects like sewing and knitting, as well as reading anything horror or fantasy-related.
